Today I cleaned up part of a 5000 year old Early Bronze Age roadway/path. Every now and then my mind would comprehensively boggle when I realised that I was cleaning up part of a 5000 year old Early Bronze Age roadway/path, but then I would resume the routine –

  1. Give the dirt covering the stones crushed hard over thousands of year  a jolly good whack with a pick
  2. Trowel it off
  3. Swear when you accidentally trowel your knuckles instead of the ground
  4. Repeat about 347 times until the the rocks are clean, or until you have reached the stage when you would cold bloodedly murder someone for a beer, which ever comes first
  5. Repeat steps one to four.

Highlights of the day included:

  • dodging rain showers and shitty weather
  • marvelling at the **wide ranging** conversations taking place up on the Tell
  • outlining to Anna and Matt exactly why I don’t find Don Draper from ‘Mad Men’ appealing, and in fact why I would be tempted to push him away if he ever came near me
  • and sampling some sage tea brought in by the workmen, then trying to decipher some of their jokes
